LENGTH:
ADULT BFA/HEARTSAVER FIRST AID: 3-4 Hours
PEDIATRIC FIRST AID: 3-4 Hours
ADULT/CHILD/INFANT FIRST AID: 4 Hours
INCLUDES:
- SAMPLE/DOTS (Illness and Injury Patient Assessments)
- Bleeding Control and Shock
- Amputations, Impalements, Eviscerations
- Injuries to Bones, Muscles, Spine, Head (Eyes/Nosebleeds/Teeth)
- Seizures, Strokes, Heart Attacks, Asthma, Diabetes, Poisoning
- Burns (Electrical, Thermal, Chemical)
- Allergic Reactions/Anaphylaxis (Epi-Pen/Twinject practice)
- Environmental Emergencies: Heat and Cold (and Prevention Strategies), Beestings, Snakebites, Rabies, Spiders, Ticks, Marine Emergencies
PEDIATRIC FIRST AID:
Includes the above topics/skills, but concentrates on those illnesses/injuries commonly experienced by CHILDREN in families, childcare, church nurseries, sports activities, etc.
NOTE: Both AHA and ASHI Pediatric and Adult CPR/AED and First Aid Courses meet the training requirements for Childcare Licensure in Kentucky. Bloodborne Pathogens training can also be added.
NOTE: We do NOT apologize for providing a slightly longer and very thorough First Aid Course. Please don’t settle for “Overviews” when someone’s life (maybe yours!) depends on quick, initial action/competent care in a life-threatening emergency when seconds count.
